The appeal of neon lighting lies in the soft and warm light it produces through the emission of gas. The thickness of the glass and its unique craftsmanship add to its aesthetic charm. Additionally, neon emits light in all directions, giving it a prominent presence.

In contrast, LEDs emit light in one direction, making it challenging to achieve the same aesthetic effects as neon. Neon signs made with LEDs sometimes appear less impressive or cheap.

ネオン照明の魅力は、ガスの発光から生み出される柔らかで温かみのある光にある。また、ガラスの厚みも趣きがあるし、ガラス工芸品としての味がある。そして、ネオンは全方向に発光するため、背面も照らして、空間全体を柔らかくその光で満たす。

対照的に、LEDは一方向に光を発するため、文字をなぞらえることはできるが、ネオンのような奥行きを表現することは難しく、どうしても平坦に見えるし、間近で見るとシリコンがチープに見えると思う。本物のガラスネオンはアートだと思う。
