Overview
A modern British restaurant that opened on the upper floors of Fairmont Jakarta.
Guided by the lighting design concept “Warmth of British Charm,” we created a lighting environment suited to a refined, luxury dining experience.

Design Approach
With sweeping city views as a defining feature, the night skyline is treated as a backdrop to the lighting design. Interior lighting is deliberately kept restrained, ensuring it does not interfere with the food, conversation, or the view.
Subtle variations in color temperature between the indoor and outdoor dining areas enhance visual continuity and add a sense of depth to the space.

The lighting strategy was shaped around the following principles:
• Warm color temperatures centered around 2400K
• Sufficient brightness with minimal glare
• Visual continuity between the night view and dining areas
• High color rendering to present food beautifully
To make the most of the views, light sources are kept out of direct sightlines, with the visual center of gravity placed low.
This approach allows the eye to move naturally between indoor and outdoor spaces without disruption.

In the outdoor dining areas, ceiling lighting is avoided in favor of table lamps.
As the quality of light has a significant impact on how food is perceived, particular care was taken to ensure high color rendering across all LED sources, including the table lamps.
Result
Focused lighting highlights artworks and wall materials, while dedicated illumination enhances the dining tables.
By clearly distinguishing where to illuminate and where to hold back, the space achieves a calm atmosphere with depth and balance.
