St James Power Station

St James Power Station — IES Illumination Award, Award of Merit

Singapore / 2022 / Collaboration with Mapletree, W Architects, Studio Lapis

St James Power station is a national monument inaugurated in 1927, the complex was originally conceived as a power station to meet growing industrial and domestic demands for electricity. This landmark at the harbour comes alive with the specially formulated linear light fixture using a combination of red and warm white to enhance the symbolic red brick facade. This contrasts with the crisp neutral white illumination of plaster wall and chimney which adds a contemporary touch. The lighting successfully gives dignity to heritage monuments.
