In urban planning and large-scale development projects, it has become increasingly common to create a master plan as a set of design guidelines for development. This master plan now often includes strategies for enhancing nighttime experiences and reducing environmental impact, with a focus on the lighting environment.

The historic Diriyah old town, located on the outskirts of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, boasts numerous ancient city remnants from the previous kingdom era and has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Lighting Designer was involved in the master planning of a significant development project in this area, encompassing hotels, commercial facilities, offices, parks, and more.

To respect the history and grandeur of the neighboring Royal Palace ruins, the master plan proposed lighting guidelines that would illuminate the facades of the development area while being mindful to only accentuate the distinctive earthen walls of this land. In order to create a lively commercial space, various lighting techniques were integrated into the landscape, envisioning the area bustling with activity after the scorching daytime heat, forming a comprehensive lighting environment master plan.

都市計画や規模の大きな開発プロジェクトでは、開発のためのデザインガイドライン作りとしてマスタープランを作る。夜間の体験価値向上や環境負荷軽減のための戦略として、マスタープランに光環境も加わることが増えている。

サウジアラビアの首都リヤド郊外に位置するディルイーヤ旧市街は、前王国時代の都市遺跡が多く残り世界遺産に登録されている。このエリアを活性化させるためのホテル、商業施設、オフィス、公園などを含めた大きな開発プロジェクトのマスタープランに参画した。

隣り合う王宮遺跡の歴史と威厳を尊重するために、開発エリアのファサードへの光はこの土地に特徴の土壁を照らすだけに抑えつつ、商業空間としての賑やかさを演出するために、ランドスケープに様々な光の仕掛けをする照明のガイドラインを提案した。灼熱の日中を避け、陽が落ちたあとに賑わうことを想像しながら光環境のマスタープランが考えられた。
